As I trekked along the path in Ken Lockwood Gorge a few days ago, I happened upon an older couple out enjoying the day.
As with most passersby, we smiled cordially and commented about the beauty of the afternoon.
After our brief exchange, I mentally paused to contemplate their situation.
They were neither hurried in their pace nor distracted by the natural beauty that surrounded them. They were so happily engrossed in the depth of their conversation as they strolled.
I thought how satisfied they appeared... so calm, quite cheerful, and overwhelmingly content.
As I later sat quietly along the banks of the river, I compared the two folks with my own life and thought how thankful I am to have someone to walk with me.
Sometimes gently pulling me forward, other times quietly letting me lead, but always nearby.
My dear wife, Jackie... together for 19+ fantastic years and the love of my life.
I so look forward to aging gracefully together and enjoying all that we have created.
