First Slide Digitized

So here is the result of my very first attempt to digitize a slide using a DSLR and a macro lens. Not too shabby considering it was also my first shots with a macro lens EVER and the setup was pretty rudimentary --- see earlier post for details.

No post-processing other than to straighten and crop.

It is not perfect and I really don't know how it compares against a high-def, professional slide scan, but I can say that it was pretty quick and easy. Certainly sufficient for casual viewing, I think.

I will continue to perform a few more tests and construct a more permanent setup soon, but if the quality doesn't get significantly better than this, I will still be quite pleased. Much simpler and a more compact viewing format than the old cardboard-framed slides held in dozens of large plastic carousels.

Here the first --- my big brother and me back in March of 1969 - I am just 1 year old and he is 4 1/2!

Wonder if he remembers why he is choking me :)
