Just received my new TV --- a Sony warranty replacement for the older rear-projection model that is starting to have optical block issues (blue stripes).
The one on the floor will be heading down into the basement shortly.
New TV is lighter, thinner, brighter, clearer, and much sharper. The only thing that didn't improve is the sound quality. Narrow TV means smaller speakers with less power. It is certainly fine for "normal" TV shows, but for movies and the big NFL games, I will use my surround system.
