"Lost" in the Mail

Here are old postcards of some favorite locations in New Hampshire that I purchased on eBay and received yesterday. I really enjoy looking at these old photos and also reading the little interesting notes that people would send to each other before the days of e-mail.

The postmark dates range between 1908 and 1940, with most in the mid-20s to mid-30s - imagine over 100 year old! The one from 1908 mentions that no one was around when she arrived in town, so had to locate a "team" and wrote this postcard while waiting. Assuming team of horses? Really cool!

Many are a little difficult to make out -- imagine, folks actually wrote in cursive back then! I included a printed one - this one was the newest of the bunch (1940) and quite cryptic. The face was the vertical one with Hampton Beach on it, so he may have been a little heat stroke or tipsy when he drafted it.
